status, educational qualification and years of teaching experience.

Age. This is one type of demographics that is used to describe the teacher respondents. Table 2 shows the profile of the teacher respondents in terms of age.

It can be noted from the table that there were 105 teacher respondents in this study with ages ranging from 22 to 38 years old with the highest percentage of 14.29 % for age group 28 years old followed by 25 years old with 13.33 %, 26 and 36 years old with 10.48 % each, and the rest of the ages at 0.95-8.5 %.

This data suggest that the English teacher population in Hanoi University of Industry is relatively young with all of them born after 1975 and comprising the new generation of post-war Vietnamese.

also means that female teachers are preferred by the university as compared to male teachers.

Table 4

Place of Origin Profile of Teacher Respondents

Profile Frequency Percentage

TOTAL 105 100.00

As shown in the table the teacher respondents originated from 17 different places in Vietnam with 62.86 % or majority coming from Urban including Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh followed by 39% from Rural areas such as Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, phu Tho…. The Hanoi University of Industry from where these teacher respondents were employed is located in Minh Khai commune, Tu Liem district, Hanoi city. Ha Noi is the second largest municipality in Vietnam in terms of population with 7.1 million in 2013 next to the capital city Ho Chi Minh. It is considered as the capital of reunified Vietnam located in the right bank of the Red River Delta and is bounded by the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hung

Yen, Ha Tay and Vinh Phuc. It is one of the five centrally controlled municipalities. Ha Nam is two municipalities away from Ha Noi.

Thus, it is interesting to note the preponderance of teacher respondents coming from the two municipalities Ha Noi and Ha Nam as two provinces with very active and motivated English teaching professionals.

As indicated in the table all the teacher respondents are married indicating that even at their early age of 22 to 38, the teacher respondents value the married status. This can be further inferred that the university considered married teachers as they serve as role model to their students as family status is symbol for maturity and responsibility.
