Semester 2 – Week 11 Period 3 Objectives: * Students can:
- Recognize the letter in the alphabet
- Pronounce letter “I”, sound /i/, and the word "insect", “bee”.
- Understand the meaning of the word "insect"

INTRODUCTION
Weather Report: Weather songs or chants.
Warm up and review:
- Teacher and Ss greet each other.
- Teacher checks attendance.
- Teacher writes words such as “a fish, a cat, a dog, a duck, a horse, an elephant” on the board and Ss remember them in two minutes.
- Teacher asks Ss to close their eyes.
- Teacher erases any words and Ss guess “What’s the word missing?”
Lesson presentation:
Lead-in: - Teacher reviews the commands used in everyday lessons DEVELOPMENT
Set-the-scene:
Teacher draws or points to group cards on the board
Sentence Pattern:
There is one bee.
There is _______ .
Teacher points to Bee card and ask Ss “ What’s this”, Ss answer “It’s a bee.”
Teacher points and says “Rabbit is insect? - No”; “Fish is insect? - No”; “Bee is insect? - Yes”; ……..
Teacher points the bee card and says: Today, we will learn the letter about insect. Can you guess what letter?
Presentation:
Teacher lets Ss recognize letter 'I', sound /i/, the meaning of the word "insect" by turning on CD player and asks Ss to listen three times.
Practice:
Teacher lets Ss practice the new words as a whole class, in groups, and as individual.

* Game: The list
- Students have a fixed set of words or pictures in a fixed order. This could be a row of words or pictures in a textbook, or a set of teacher’s cards. The order of the cards should be the same for all students. It may be necessary to review the numbers prior to the exercise.
- Give each item a number, but inform the students that they must not write down the number beside the items.
- Teacher calls out the number and the students give the word.
* Game: Read the words
Give Ss many words or flash cards and use structure “There is one bee”.
- Teacher can demonstrate the example. Teacher raises the cat picture and says.
“One, There is one cat”
- Teacher asks Ss use this structure to work in pairs.
Practice using Student's Book
- Teacher asks Ss to open their Ss' books.
- Teacher lets Ss listen to the words and point to the words in their books.
- Teacher asks Ss to read the words without listening to the CD player.
- Teacher guides their Ss how to glue the stickers on their books.
Practice using - Workbook Exercise - Teacher asks Ss to open their Ss' books.
- Teacher guides their Ss how to do the exercise.
CONSOLIDATION
- Teacher reviews words and structures that Ss have learnt by using flashcards.
- Teacher sums up the mark.
- Teacher reminds Ss to do their homework (if possible).
- Teacher lets Ss sing a song.

Teacher draws or sticks pictures such as pencil, pen, book, jug on the board.
Teacher points to a book and asks Ss “What’s this?”
Teacher points to a jug and asks “What’s this? If Ss can’t answer, teacher gives the answer and says: Today, we will learn an English letter. Can you guess what letter?
Presentation:
Teacher lets Ss recognize letter 'J', sound /j/, the meaning of the word "jug" by playing the CD player and asks Ss to listen three times.
Practice:
Teacher lets Ss practice the new language items as a whole class, in groups, and as individual.
Free-practice
* Game: Match
- Teacher asks two groups to match a word to a picture.
- The faster group gets two marks and the other gets one mark.
- Then each group has to read the words that they have matched exactly with structure “There is…..” .With each correct answer, each group can get one mark.
* Game: “Guess the picture”
- Teacher sticks a flash card on the board but Ss can’t see it and ask Ss guess it.
- Each group has to guess what the flash card is using the structure “There is a
…… on the board”
Note: Teacher can use the previous lesson flashcards and the present lesson flashcards to help Ss review vocabulary and remember structure “There is…”

- Teacher asks Ss to open their Ss' books.
- Teacher lets Ss listen to the words and point to the words in their books.
- Teacher asks Ss to read the words without listening to the CD player.
