L Background of research

Vietnam's economy is expanding, raising the demand for high-quality human resources Businesses, companies, as well as many specific jobs in science today, require human resources with in-depth knowledge of that field of work As a result, many students prefer to pursue a master's degree to increase their chances of obtaining employment in the future A master’s degree proves the knowledge they have accumulated, affirms their position in the industry and builds trust with employers This is an opportunity for students to become involved in the globalization movement while also improving themselves Every year, more than 36,000 masters graduate in Vietnam, in which there is no shortage of aspiring entrepreneurs, directors, managers, and young generations

Currently, master’s degree programs are extremely diverse, with many different professions Students can choose to study for a master’s degree in Vietnam with many international joint programs or, even further, study abroad The choice to study for a master’s degree also depends on their needs and many factors affecting the external environment The question is, what elements impact students' decisions to study abroad for master's degrees and study abroad consulting businesses’ solutions? To better understand the needs of students in this regard and the biggest influencing factor in their decision to pursue a master’s degree, our group undertook a project called “A survey on demand for studying masters abroad” to survey and come up with results

IL Aim of research

Crossing countries and continents to get the best education has become a global phenomenon Therefore, many students choose to study abroad after their graduation to get a master's degree And many study-abroad companies have difficulty figuring out what factors students care about when choosing where they will study abroad in the future Moreover, universities in Ho Chi Minh City are increasingly interested in how to provide their students with a high-quality associate program with the hope of helping students have a chance to gain global knowledge with a less expensive tuition fee

In short, the research team carried out this research intending to evaluate the factors affecting the final decision to study for a master's degree abroad and give some offering development directions for businesses and universities

Trang 8

More than 60% of the 300 students who participated in the survey were female and 39,3% of the male students participated As a result, this survey demonstrates that the concentration of this survey is about equal between genders

1.2

Trang 12

Chart 2: The line chart shows reasons of choosing study in Vietnam

The research team gave 4 reasons for choosing to study for a Master’s degree in Vietnam and from the chart above, we can easily see the reason affecting Master’s study in the country instead of abroad Students choose to study in Vietnam for 2 reasons that account for the highest percentage: Tuition fees in the country are cheaper than abroad and Closeness to family accounts for 64% bd 63%, respectively Besides, the reason for the lowest choice is that Familiar learning methods, accounts for 28% and the higher is that education in the country is

as good as abroad, accounting for 34% From this data, it is clear that the majority of students are more concemed about tuition fees and their families because it affects their Master’s course and their study process

Trang 13

The domestic environment is close and familia

Table 7: The table shows the students’ budget for accommodation, transportation and other

personal activities within 1 month

13

Trang 14

According to the data shown above, 41,6% (69/248 students) of students strive for a

budget of $500 to $800 for their activities within a month Budgets ranging from $800 to $1000

and less than $500 accounted for 25.9% and 21.1% respectively Finally, 19/248 students chose the lowest value of more than 1000

In general, students tend to save money, which is reasonable for themselves This data makes it possible for the survey to develop a cost-effective master's program for students

2.3.2.2, Countries for study abroad

14

Trang 15

According to statistical data, tuition fees, scholarships, and job opportunities-setted are the first choices of students, with the highest reach at 44.6% (74/166 students) Most students can quickly adapt to foreign environments; therefore, culture/foreigner is an unnecessary criterion, accounting for 13,9% Geography/climate is an average criterion with data ranging from 10.8% to 30.7%

Trang 16

In 166 people interested in studying a master’s degree abroad, there are 95 people with an excellent academic performance which accounted for 57,2% in total That shows us that the target audience for studying for a master’s degree abroad is mainly students with a good or higher ability And this data is so necessary because for all studying abroad consultants, finding out how to market a study abroad program starts with getting in the mindset of the target audience—students
