The development of Vietnam's logistics industry is hindered by inadequate transport infrastructure, particularly roads that have not kept pace with industrialization, resulting in congestion and overloading Despite fierce competition from foreign firms, domestic logistics companies are viewed positively due to Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which boost foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Vietnamese manufacturing sector.

The ongoing enhancement of infrastructure is strengthening the connectivity between logistics facilities and production zones, while the state’s supportive planning and the gradual improvement of customs procedures are positively impacting businesses in the industry.

Vietnam's logistics industry holds significant potential for long-term investment, driven by both subjective and objective factors This article focuses on the analysis of internal, micro, and macro elements that influence the competitive advantage in road transportation at Xuan Anh Transport Service Trading Co Ltd during the 2019-2021 period.

Report objectives

The internship report aims to analyze the internal, micro, and macro factors influencing the competitive advantage of Xuan Anh Transport Service Trading Co Ltd in the road goods transportation sector from 2019 to 2021 Additionally, it proposes solutions to enhance the company's business efficiency and offers insights applicable to the broader logistics industry.

Xuan Anh Transport Service Trading Co., Ltd., established on July 7, 2015, is registered under business license number 0313334473 by the Department of Planning and Investment of Ho Chi Minh City Despite facing intense competition in the import and export market, the company has successfully carved out a niche for itself, thanks to its unwavering determination and strong expertise, earning a reputation for excellent service quality.

In 2015, the Company encountered numerous challenges at its inception, including limited capital, a small customer base, and irregular shipments of only one per week, compounded by inadequate facilities and transportation With a workforce of just three people and no salaries in the initial month, the Company persevered By the third month, through dedicated sewing efforts and relentless determination, it secured regular customers and began to experience steady growth.

In 2018, the Company added FCL freight forwarding service - full container cargo and LCL cargo - retail cargo by sea

In 2020, the Company further developed customs brokerage and logistics services,providing warehousing and distribution services.

Organizational structure

The Board of Directors is accountable for overseeing and making decisions regarding all company activities in accordance with legal provisions They are responsible for directing employees, approving and signing service contracts, and actively participating in customer acquisition for the company.

The Accounting Department plays a crucial role in managing financial matters and optimizing capital usage It is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing financial data generated during the company's operations Additionally, the department ensures proper storage of documents and invoices related to the activities of employees across various departments.

The Sales Department focuses on acquiring new customers and fostering long-term partnerships It develops strategic business plans to identify optimal directions for enhancing the company's performance during each phase.

Document Department: Prepare necessary documents for the import and export process.

To enhance customer satisfaction, it is essential to prioritize quality requirements and timely product delivery All departments, along with their officers, workers, and employees, should focus on customer-oriented objectives and engage in proactive customer care activities This approach not only helps in retaining existing customers but also aids in acquiring new ones.

Between 2019 and 2021, the company demonstrated significant growth in revenue, costs, and profit after tax, indicating a stable and developing business environment Revenue consistently increased, with a rise of VND 3,226 million (7.98%) from 2019 to 2020, and a further increase of VND 4,184 million (9.58%) from 2020 to 2021 This progress is attributed to the dedicated efforts of the leadership and employees in overcoming previous challenges Additionally, the company has established strong customer trust through numerous high-value service contracts, while the active import and export sector, bolstered by Vietnam's entry into the CPTPP on November 12, 2020, has provided favorable opportunities for forwarders, including joint-stock companies.

From 2019 to 2021, costs rose significantly, with a notable increase of 2,913 million VND (7.75%) in 2021 compared to 2020 Additionally, expenses in 2020 saw a rise of 3,739 million VND, reflecting a consistent upward trend in costs over the years.

In 2021, the Company faced a significant cost increase of 9.23%, primarily due to ineffective cost management The rise of competing forwarding companies compelled the Company to lower prices to secure contracts, despite increasing freight rates and shipping line surcharges that escalated input costs Additionally, the Company's relatively small size and lack of a warehouse system forced reliance on costly port shipping and rented storage solutions To thrive amidst these challenges, the Company must reassess its competitors and strategically adjust its cost structure.
